William L. White, M.D.
William L. White, M.D., a board certified ophthalmologist, specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Surgery of the eyelids, including eyelid cancer, tear drainage apparatus, eye socket tumors and thyroid-related eye disease management are examples of problems Dr. White treats.
Dr. White studied chemistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City and graduated from medical school from Saint Louis University.
He completed a transitional internship at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado, and an ophthalmology residency at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. White did his fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. White is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the Missouri State Medical Association.
Dr. White has received several awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmolgy to include their Honor Award and the more unusual Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award, which he views as the pinnacle award of his career.
Dr. White has also received several local awards including being one of Ingram Magazine’s 50 Heroes in Healthcare and being inducted into Oak Park High School’s Hall of Fame in Science.
Dr. White has had an ongoing relationship with a non-denominational Christian Mission in Northwestern Haiti for over 2 decades (Northwest Haiti Christian Mission).
He travels to Haiti with a team to provide medical and surgical eye care (www.theiteam.org).
